Classic ignition

Such a system is called non-contact, it consists of:

  • ignition switch, i.e. lock;
  • coils;
  • distribution mechanism;
  • high voltage cables;
  • candles.

The function of the switchgear is to interrupt the primary circuit on the module. After that, the mechanism distributes the voltage among the candles in a specific order. Thanks to the coil, the low-voltage current is converted to high-voltage. The purpose of the candles is to ignite the combustible mixture in the cylinders of an engine.

Electronic

If the machine is equipped with an electronic ignition system, then a switching mechanism is located in it on the section of the circuit between the distributor device and the coil.

BSZ consists of:

  • switch device;
  • a switch, i.e. a lock;
  • coils;
  • distribution device;
  • high-voltage cables through which the discharge enters the candles;
  • the candles themselves.

Thanks to the switchgear, control pulses arrive at the switch device, this is done to create a spark. Then the signals are fed alternately to all the spark plugs. The main purpose of the switch is to convert control pulses from a contactless device to current, the latter is used to supply the primary winding of the coil. This helps to improve the appearance of sparks, which is especially true for power units operating on a lean fuel mixture.

Diagnostics of the switch device is carried out using a spark. If as a result of the test the distributor does not receive a high-voltage signal, this indicates a switch malfunction. The device must be replaced. But if the problem was not solved as a result of the repair or change, then it is necessary to carry out the diagnostics of the electrical circuits and replace the damaged wires. Perhaps the reason should be sought in the increased resistance of the cores, this leads to the fact that the spark will be too weak.

  1. Open the hood and disconnect the battery. One of the contacts of the device that is being tested must be connected to the mass, that is, to the body or metal on the car.
  2. The second contact is connected to the junction or grounding point.
  3. If, as a result of the connection, the "control" began to burn, this indicates that everything is in order with the mass on the diagnosed section of the circuit.

How to find a damaged wiring section:

  1. It is necessary to disconnect the voltage from the diagnosed section of the circuit. The wiring section is checked by means of a lamp with a connected voltage source.
  2. Two ends of the wire from the light source are connected to different ends of the circuit or to the positive output and the mass of the machine. When the indicator lights up, there are no gaps in the wiring. If the lamp does not turn on, then you need to look for the place of damage.
  3. Diagnostics of the ignition switch is carried out in the same way, the “control” is connected to its terminals for verification. When the switch is activated, the light source should light up.

If the cause of the malfunction of electrical appliances is the presence of an open circuit, then it is practically impossible to visually find the damaged area, since it is difficult to see the oxidation on the contacts or their damage. To solve the problem, you can try moving the connected wire or reconnecting the contacts. Sometimes this solves the problem. As for replacing a damaged part of the circuit, you just need to cut the worn wire, and connect a new one instead. The junction is sealed or wrapped with electrical tape.

  1. Check battery. Perhaps he was simply exhausted.
  2. First of all, the section on the circuit from the generator device to the coil is checked. If there are breaks in the circuit, new wires are replaced and connected, oxidation - stripping of contacts using an iron brush. If the contacts began to "crumble", they must also be replaced.
  3. Diagnose the coil for a spark. Remove the high-voltage cable from the installation site and bring it to the car body. When you try to start the engine, a spark should slip between the high voltage and the body.
