How to choose a used VAZ car. How to choose a used car: advice from motorists and experts

I decided to speak out on this matter because many of my readers and viewers ask me to do so. The question is really not unambiguous and it usually arises before a person who is changing a used one, as a rule. old car(which was “worn out” and sold) and now there is a HUGE choice - what to buy a used (but foreign car) or a new (but ours, as a rule, domestic) VAZ? We need to approach it from several points of view, we will look at all of them today, there will be a video and a vote below, so read and watch...

Let me start by saying that recently the situation with Russian automobile industry Slowly but surely it is changing, and I think for the better. It started with BU Andersen, when he began to improve the quality of the brand. Moreover, no one even thought about abandoning the old models, I’m talking about PRIORA, KALINA, GRANTA, LADA 4X4, they just decided to “tighten them up” a little, which I think was “almost done.” But also new VESTA, X-RAY, LARGUS, LADA URBAN were developed next to these models.

However, there is a strong stereotype in Russian minds that everything that VAZ produces is bad, and even the slightest foreign car will be not just better, but MUCH BETTER! BUT is this really true in modern realities, because we will take a new Lada, but a used one from a foreigner.

About the price level and age

There are now a whole cartload of “Foreign Guests”, starting from DATSUN (as I consider the “finished” GRANT), ending with top-end BMW, MERCEDES, AUDI. Therefore, we will classify them into two large subspecies, these are inexpensive maximum configurations up to 1 million rubles and expensive ones - over this amount (I’m talking about new cars now)

Moreover, we will choose a used option, which means it should not exceed 500,000, this is really the price of a modern, well-equipped AVTOVAZ.

I would also like to talk about the age limit, after all, 5 years is the maximum figure, as I believe, if younger is better, because, let’s say, many Koreans have a guarantee of 5 years and 150,000 mileage

Inexpensive used foreign car

This is the most practical deal, if you have 400 - 500,000 rubles, then you can take an almost new one - LOGAN, SANDERO, SOLARIS, RIO, ALMERA, POLO. Or a slightly older FOCUS (second generation), MAZDA3, CRUZ, ASTRA, LANCER, COROLLA, etc. (there are really a lot of them).

That is, these are cars not of “ALPHA” brands (such as BMW, AUDI, MERSEDES). This is class "B-C", they will not have complex turbines, diesel engines, robotic boxes gears and other nonsense. Usually these are ordinary “aspirated” engines with volumes of 1.2 - 1.6 (rarely 1.8 - 2.0).

AS I THINK, if you take a used foreign car, then it is from this group. It is here, if it is not a “killed barn” (with a mileage of 250,000 km), that you can drive happily ever after

And such cars as, say, LOGAN, SANDERO, DASTER, the first generations generally go on some kind of “mad” runs, without any serious investments (only “consumables”). Koreans, such as Solaris and RIO, are also very reliable and provide any kind of comfort and have the biggest guarantee of all in our country.

If you take larger cars, LANCER, COROLLA, ASTRA, CRUZ, MAZDA3 - take them first hand, and you definitely need to look at testing power units, transmissions, twisted runs, “beating”, etc. If they sell you a “killed” car, you will invest your hard-earned money into it, a lot and at an EXPENSIVE rate.

REMEMBER - repair of foreign cars, especially class “C” (and higher) costs two and maybe three times more than our domestic cars

Of course, at a relatively low price, 400 - 500,000 rubles, you can find a good copy, with low mileage, winter tires and so on. Moreover, the quality of the interior, design, execution technical units will be really great. BUT THERE ARE FEW MACHINES SUCH! And when buying, you should take a knowledgeable person with you.

You also need to be mentally prepared to invest money in repairs. Still, the used option is a roulette.

Expensive used foreign car

My opinion here is unequivocal - I DO NOT ADVISE YOU TO TAKE THIS. FOR 400 - 500,000 rubles, it will already be a shaggy year (age approximately 6 - 8 years). These are exactly the ALPHA BRANDS that I wrote about above - AUDI, MERCEDES, BMW, if we take the Japanese CAMRY, ACCORDS and so on.

Of course, there is a brand, comfort, and prestige (even if it’s an old car, but still). And again, this is not a LADA.

However, this option is almost 100% likely to make money (less often with the Japanese). Of course, perhaps you will be lucky and you will take some MERS that is 8 years old with a mileage of 30,000 km. BUT such randomness tends to zero.

How does this happen in practice? A young guy who passed his license a couple of years ago and more or less learned to drive (and they are the ones who buy such cars) buys himself, say, a MERS W203 for 400,000 rubles (let’s say, 2006). The mileage, as he was told, is 150,000 kilometers (yeah, in 11 years!) And he’s all so smart laughing at the neighbors who bought themselves a VESTA, X-RAY and other miracles of our technology.

But his joy will not last long, because this car is already 11 years old and in any case something will happen to it. And the repairs aren't even original spare parts, often costs a lot of money; the turbine alone will cost from 100,000 rubles, if you take the originals. But here all the comfort and beauty + prestige will fall below the plinth, and such a wonderful guy will be all cool, riding a minibus (paying a loan for this barn and saving money for repairs).

And the neighbors who bought new cars, but of a lower class, will drive and be happy.

Pros of the purchase :

  • Kudos
  • Design
  • Quality
  • Reliability
  • Comfort
  • Equipment

Minuses :

  • Expensive repairs (especially if these are prestigious brands)
  • Turbines, robots and other delights, it’s trivial that there may not be specialists in your city
  • Big taxes
  • "Eats" a lot of fuel
  • Breaks often
  • Many years

In these points I have collected both inexpensive and expensive options. Actually this is so

New, but domestic VAZ

I repeat once again - I am not defending anyone! I myself had a lot of domestic cars of this particular brand, “I drank a lot with them” - BUT THIS HAPPENED BEFORE.

Let's think about how the situation with AVTOVAZ is now (I don't pretend to be a super analyst, this is just my opinion)

Now the controlling stake belongs to the RENAULT-NISSAN corporation. The government has stopped pumping in billions (70 - 80) every year, I don’t understand why! Of course there is support, but it is much less.

The new administration dispersed a bunch of “brackers” and “parasites”, not all of them (many were still whining), but still. They made it clear: if you want to work, make high-quality “components” and we will work with you. The downside was that they started purchasing a lot of spare parts abroad, but now the situation is changing in the opposite direction (fortunately, sanctions are helping).

Prices have gone up, but the cars have also become better quality. Otherwise, if they are crap, no one will buy it. The brands we know, KALINA, PRIOR, GRANTS, have been upgraded and modernly equipped. Now they also have air conditioners (climate controls), heating (and windshield), navigation (with large monitors), and so on and so forth. Of course, the interior trim remained from budget materials, but now they don’t rattle or rattle.

If you take X-RAY, LARGUS, then these are generally really VERY reliable cars. They are based on the “B0” platform on which the same SANDERO, LOGAN, DUSTER, TERRANO are built. THIS IS A VERY STRONG AND SIMPLE PLATFORM. I wanted it for a long time and without any obvious jambs.

VESTA is our development brought to perfection. In reality, it can compete with such cars as SOLARIS, RIO, POLO, ALMERA, AVEO, etc. in her class she is not very bad.

Again, our own developments appear, this is a robot, a 1.8-liter engine. If there are no critical problems with the engine, then about the robot... (there will be a separate article).

Well and again new car, no one has ridden it before you! The warranty is 3 years (or 100,000 km), now it really works. YES, and people are different now, they know their rights more, and as soon as they do, they go straight to court! In general, the “picture” is changing, it’s POSSIBLE to buy a VAZ now! Especially if this is a new generation of cars.

Again, all of our “national tuners” tune 80% of our cars, from “classics” to PRIORs. It seems to me that only our cars can be upgraded so inexpensively.

Well, spare parts, they are everywhere. You can find anything, and the prices are reasonable. I remember seeing the guy’s face when he found out how much it costs to repair a DSG, he said that for this money you can buy a PRIOR and don’t worry!

Positive aspects of the new AVTOVAZ :

  • Cheap repairs
  • Now they are becoming more reliable
  • No one went before you, no one killed you
  • GUARANTEE
  • Acceptable price
  • EQUIPMENT, there is everything that is in modern cars
  • State support, preferential loans and programs
  • Not a difficult repair
  • Just for inexpensive tuning

Negative points :

  • This budget cars(not even class "C")
  • The quality of interior finishing and plastics (although in X-RAI and VESTA it is more or less so)
  • Not prestigious (this stereotype still lives in us)
  • They break. This also happens (especially cars of the first generations)
  • They are on par with foreign cars. YES now the price tag is rising

Overall this is a very practical purchase. If you need a car to travel (for work, in a taxi, to the dacha, with children - LARGUS can be seven-seater) then this is your choice. These are not cars for showing off, they are “hard workers”.

If you are planning to purchase a used car, VAZ is suitable option. Why? Most people agree that the VAZ is a bucket of bolts. No, a well-maintained car will transport you in comfort and will not cause problems; there are plenty of foreign cars on city streets that are openly asking for repairs.

Of course, the main criterion for your choice will be the amount you have to purchase your car. The condition and model of the future acquisition will depend on it. Earlier models, such as the VAZ 2101, are less fast than, for example, the VAZ 2108. But this is true for a factory car.

In the case of VAZ, many cars were modified by their owner. Sometimes it is a complete collective farm and a “gypsy package”. But there are also very well-maintained pennies, with modernized engines that can easily outperform the same eight. How to choose a used VAZ car so that it does not become a pain and an endless investment object?

You should pay attention to the car body. Externally, the car may be without dents and well painted. In order to make sure that the body is not broken, you will need a magnet, it should not be too powerful - an ordinary magnet that you can hang on your refrigerator.

You should walk over the body with a magnet - if the car has a very thick layer of putty on it, the magnet will not stick to the body and will fall off - this will tell you about the painful place of the car being inspected. As you know, the second most important element of a car is its engine. In order to find out whether the engine is working or not, you should start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.

When the car is idling, pay attention to the oil pressure lamp; if it is on, there is reason to doubt the serviceability of the engine. Even if it does not light up (it may simply not work), it is better to unscrew the oil pressure sensor from the engine block and screw in the pressure gauge, then press the gas pedal. The device will show pressure - 4 units is normal pressure. This means that the oil washes and lubricates the engine well.

Now you should unscrew the spark plugs and see if there is any oil on them. Sometimes the oil deposits are so strong that the spark plug, and therefore the cylinder, does not work! A working engine will not throw oil at the spark plugs. Just while the spark plugs are unscrewed, you should screw a compression gauge into each cylinder and measure the pressure in the cylinders.

A working engine will show 11-13 atmospheres. 8-9 atmospheres, the engine is alive, but this is no longer ideal. How to choose a used car in terms of model? The choice between the classics and the first Samaras is fundamental for some. Some people like the classics, while others like the first front-wheel drive ones. By and large, without taking into account the body type.

Samara differs from the classics in the type of drive and rack and pinion steering. The location of the engine, from the point of view of accessibility, is more convenient in the classics - the engine is located longitudinally Engine compartment any classic model has a large supply of free space, and this is very good when self-repair, and at a service station it’s also good, the cost of repairs will be lower.

If you just recently received your license, then it is best to gain experience in a car that you won’t mind even if it crashes. Very often, novice drivers purchase used domestic cars, some then don’t even want to change them - they get used to it, do tuning, that is, improve their “iron horses”. However, even a used car must be chosen correctly, otherwise it will not last you even a year.

Device VAZ 2110

The VAZ 2110 model first appeared on sale in 1995, and among the people it received a variety of nicknames. So, it was called “pregnant antelope” and simply “bast shoes”. Nevertheless, this car is still successfully sold on secondary market cars

The design of the VAZ 2110, in general, is practically no different from the design of other VAZ models, in addition, more than one book was written about this model at one time. Thanks to this, almost any car enthusiast is able to make some changes to his “ iron horse" on one's own. It is also worth noting that in all cities you can easily find the necessary spare parts for this model, which adds another plus to it.

Having decided to purchase this particular model, it is important to remember that the design of the VAZ 2110 is such that there is not sufficient visibility from the interior when moving backwards. Actually, most cars of this model have some kind of scratches, and, as a rule, the reason for getting scratches is poor visibility. You will have to get used to and adapt to this.

It is also important to keep in mind that the car requires firm and clear orders on the pedals, but at first the legs usually do not get tired from such loads. Another weak point in the VAZ 2110 device is the clutch pedal travel.

Of course, when compared with foreign cars, the VAZ 2110 loses greatly, however, in general, for the first car this model fits very well, especially since you can spare no expense and use it, including as a means of transporting heavy loads, for example, furniture or building materials.

How to choose a VAZ 2110 car

So, you found an advertisement for the sale of a VAZ 2110 that interested you and went to a meeting with the seller, or simply went to automobile market. How exactly to choose a VAZ 2101 car? What should you pay attention to? If you are well versed in the design of the VAZ 2110, then most likely there will be no problems, but very few novice car enthusiasts can boast of such knowledge. Of course, you can take a friend with you who is much better versed in cars, but you may not have such friends or they simply won’t have free time. We have compiled a short list of recommendations on what you should pay attention to when buying a used VAZ 2110.

First, you must decide the exact amount you are willing to spend on a car. Try to choose a car whose cost is lower by about 20 percent of the amount allocated for the purchase - you will need the remaining money after purchasing the VAZ 2110. So, you will need to take out insurance and the purchase and sale itself, register the car, you may have to do some minor repairs .

Secondly, do not take the first car you come across, even if you need the car urgently! The more time you spend searching for the car that best suits your needs, the more best car you will purchase. Therefore, do not hesitate to search, ask for details you are interested in and, of course, compare the inspected cars!

Probably, any person living in modern society has thought about buying a personal vehicle at least once in his life. And if a new car is out of your price range, the thought of choosing a used car doesn't seem so scary. After all, today's life is quite dynamic, and very often we simply do not have time to cope with the accumulated tasks, moving on foot or by public transport.

Not a luxury, but a means of transportation

An important incentive to purchase personal car is the eternal human desire to increase the level of comfort. Traveling in your own car is incomparable to traveling in stuffy buses and minibus taxis. Among other things, in modern world A car is no longer a luxury, but its presence still emphasizes status. And if you add up all these facts, a simple idea becomes clear: buying your own transport is, if not the main, then certainly an important life goal of almost every citizen.

True, it must be recognized that this task requires serious financial expenses. In other words, the primary question facing a potential buyer is: “Which car should I buy?” How to choose a used car? Or is it still new?

And I want and inject

Of course, if funds allow, you can go to any car dealership and buy a new car. It’s simpler, more convenient and eliminates a lot of hassles. technical problems. The procedure does not take much time. And in general, the policy of almost all car dealerships is aimed at making the choice of a car as easy as possible and facilitating its registration. In this case, the buyer can determine not only the affordable price range, but also various pleasant little things, additional technical functions. All this is not available if we are trying to understand how to choose a used car.

An important aspect when purchasing a new car is the manufacturer’s warranty. This can seriously protect the consumer for several years from the manifestation of all sorts of defects that went unnoticed in production (which is not available after choosing a used BMW or others).

Used - Available

It would seem that the choice is obvious in favor of purchasing new car. But, unfortunately, such pleasure is not available to everyone. Prices for new cars are far from real wages average citizens. And this doesn’t make the desire to buy a four-wheeled friend any less. The way out of this situation is quite simple. You need to buy what the money you actually earn is enough for. That is, a used car. When making such a purchase, there are a number of nuances that are worth paying attention to.

If the decision to purchase a used car has matured and taken shape in a very specific amount, then you first need to clearly understand for yourself the essence of the future purchase. Namely, for what purposes do you need a car. This will make it clear how to choose the right used car to settle on. optimal option without additional financial risks.

Maintenance costs

Experts in this field remind you that the maintenance of a used car will be entirely your own responsibility. family budget. Indeed, in this case, it is pointless to demand fulfillment of warranty obligations from manufacturing companies. As a rule, a used car has not been in use for a long time. warranty service. There is probably no need to explain that the cost of components for future repairs varies significantly between imported and domestic cars.

Therefore, before choosing a used car, you need to decide directly on the country that produced it. this mechanism. It is these two factors: the country of origin and the purpose of traveling by car that will allow you to solve the problem in the shortest possible time and at minimal cost.

Simple example

Let's consider the simplest and most inexpensive option for solving the problem of “how to choose a used car.” You are a pedestrian by nature and spend a lot of time in active recreation associated with walking. The nearest supermarket is right next to your house, and you don’t need to make huge purchases. But you have suburban area, which is located too far from your home. Of course, you can use public transport.

But what to do during harvest? How to bring home the fruits of your seasonal work? Hiring truck will negate all efforts to minimize costs. It is extremely inconvenient to carry the entire volume in your hands. How to choose the right used car for such purposes?

There is an inexpensive option to purchase domestic car. It will be operated, as a rule, in summer time. And the main function is a small truck for transporting the harvested crop. Such a car will not be too expensive, but this does not mean that its choice should be taken lightly.

We choose products from domestic manufacturers

How to choose a used VAZ car and not fall for all sorts of scammers? To do this, you need to understand what difficulties you may encounter when purchasing it.

Experienced motorists say that the main problem lies, oddly enough, in the design. As a rule, they sell such a car by proxy without removing it from state registration, with reasonable arguments high cost the legal procedure itself. Sometimes it can exceed the price of the car itself. In this case, it is advisable to purchase cars that have been removed from state registration, as there are significantly fewer of them on sale. With some persistence, you can find them. And here you will benefit: VAZ owners who deregister their cars are usually very careful people. Those. the car will be in good “physical” shape. It is extremely inappropriate (from a financial point of view) to deal with the re-registration of such transport yourself. Therefore, the legal registration of the transaction must be taken seriously in order to avoid possible problems associated with the past of this car.

What to look for in the body

And yet, how to choose a used car? The technical inspection of the car must be taken even more seriously than the legal registration. It's no secret that the most demands are placed on the body. Experienced car enthusiasts even call it the main part. In the case of a domestic unit, everything is quite simple.

The body should not show any corrosion elements, obvious dents or damage to the paintwork. This is usually visible to the naked eye, because no one will carry out serious paint work with machines of this class. The cost of a branded paint job can exceed the cost of the car. If during inspection obvious defects are discovered, you can significantly reduce the purchase price during further bargaining.

How to check the engine of the selected car

The technical requirements for such a car are minimal. Experts suggest starting from the normal condition of the main technical components: the engine and chassis of the car. Here are a few rules on how to choose a used Kalina, for example.

The engine should be started, as they say, “cold”. In this case, ignition defects, if any, will be immediately detected, as well as by sound idle move the general condition of the power unit will become clear. It is a good idea to check the oil and coolant levels. By the way, by their color you can determine the approximate wear of the entire mechanism. Black oil that smells like gasoline and contains foreign bodies is a very bad sign. This means that the lubricating fluid no longer fulfills its functions, and as a result of friction, destruction of the contacting metal surfaces has begun.

The worst option for the engine unit is coolant getting into the oil. It is impossible to hide such a fact. Because white coating, which is formed when mixing two compositions, is very clearly visible on the dipstick for measuring the oil level. This means that the gasket between the cylinder block and top part The engine has burst and requires replacement. Such a motor, even with the modest requirements discussed, will not work for long.

When testing the propulsion system, smoke from exhaust pipe, which can be observed in different operating modes. This phenomenon indicates wear of the piston rings and indicates serious temporary changes in the mechanisms.

The engine must be in working condition, run smoothly in any mode, not stall or malfunction when the gas pedal is sharply pressed. In the described case, you can close your eyes to the slight knocking of the piston or valve group.

How to check the chassis of a selected rear-wheel drive car

When learning how to choose the right used car, remember: self-diagnosis of the chassis of such a car is very simple. To identify defects, you need to drive your future car several kilometers along a rough road.

If there is a malfunction in the chassis of a rear-wheel drive VAZ, a characteristic hum will immediately be heard coming from the rear of the car. As a rule, a worn gearbox makes this noise rear axle. You can drive with this for a while, but you need to remember that replacement will cost you a pretty penny and take a lot of time. Based on this, you can achieve a significant discount on the original cost of the car.

A characteristic gurgling noise in the front of the car when a wheel hits a bump in most cases will indicate a malfunction of the ball joints. Their repair will not require large expenses, but it is necessary to carry it out due to the risk of damage to the wheel.

How to check the chassis of a selected front-wheel drive car

If you are testing a front-wheel drive VAZ, then remember the conditions on how to choose a used Priora, for example. The most common defect of the chassis in such cars is wear of the front CV joints or grenades, as car enthusiasts call them. Checking the technical condition of a grenade is quite simple. Turn the steering wheel all the way in any direction and try to move away sharply in this position. If the CV joint is faulty, you will hear a characteristic cracking sound in the front of the car, depending on which way the steering wheel is turned. When noise is present on both sides, this is a rather serious defect in the chassis, which can lead to additional financial investments. And the safety of driving such a car is quite questionable. Here it would be appropriate to simply refuse the purchase.

These are the main and fairly simple secrets of how to choose a used VAZ. However, the same testing methods are also suitable for foreign cars. Remember them and you will buy exactly what you need.

Domestic all-terrain vehicle: what to look for

There are some technical points that require close attention if you are wondering how to choose a used Niva. Here it is necessary to remember that this is more likely a crossover than a regular one. a car. That's why increased attention You should pay particular attention to the chassis of the intended purchase.

In order to have fun storming the edges and uneven surfaces of the countryside, it is better to immediately get an opinion from experts on the reliability of all suspension arms of such a VAZ. Otherwise, there is a risk, as in the case of the propulsion system, that you will have to shell out a tidy sum for repairs immediately after purchase.

However, all the risks described above do not detract from the advantages of this particular choice. It is optimal for those who are new to driving and want to improve their skills at relatively low cost.

Make money with a used car - myth or reality

A fairly large segment of modern business is occupied by road transportation. More and more people are appearing who decide to earn their living by delivering goods in cities. This is a relatively small tonnage - approximately 500 kg to 2 tons. A truck produced in Russia under the Gazelle brand is ideal for these purposes. As a rule, to start such a business it is better to buy new car with gas installation.

But if you still can’t afford a brand new car, and you are thinking more and more about how to choose a used Gazelle, then it is better to discard the idea as unpromising. Cars of this class are sold with maximum wear and tear on almost all technical components, the repair of which is very significant from the point of view of capital investment.

It’s hard to disagree with the fact that starting a business by repairing its main component is strange, to say the least. The best way out in this situation would be to search for and apply for a favorable loan for the purchase of a new car. But this is a topic for a completely different article.

Buying a foreign car

Perhaps the most interesting and attractive component of sales for most car enthusiasts is used foreign cars. There is an opinion among experienced drivers that any car, even the most ancient one, made outside our vast homeland is much better than new domestic models. They say it’s more comfortable, more convenient, and most importantly, much more reliable than all our VAZs and GAZs. It’s difficult to argue with this, and there’s no need to. It is best to trust your own experience or the advice of specialists in these matters.

The main trap for a car enthusiast who has decided to buy a foreign four-wheeled friend and does not know how to choose a used Renault Logan, for example, is the small amount of money that he is willing to spend on the desired purchase. Blinded by the desire to get behind the wheel of a prestigious car, a person very often turns a blind eye to various little things associated with such an acquisition.

Find a foreign car without a past

Basically, all used foreign cars are imported into our territory from Europe. It is important for the future buyer to understand that not all cars are delivered legally. There may be several far from pleasant surprises for potential buyers.

Firstly, the car may simply be listed as wanted. You will buy such a car by proxy, and at the first scheduled stop on the road they can check it using the Interpol database. And if it is stolen, believe me, you will be in big trouble. And the main thing is that after all contacts with law enforcement agencies, the car will still be confiscated. In this case, there will be no one to appeal to.

Secondly, problems may arise with customs clearance. As a rule, such cars have temporary registration in the nearest EU countries. Such cars cost much less than those cleared through customs and imported in accordance with all the rules. It is the low price that often attracts motorists who are tormented by the question of how to choose a used Logan.

It must be admitted that such experiments often end just as disastrously as in the first case. Temporary registration is usually very short. And after its completion, you will need to either cross the border of the country where the car is registered, or register it in your own country. In both the first and second situations, serious costs await. In any case, the difference that was saved during the purchase will have to be paid extra.

And yet, how to choose a used Renault Logan? As is the case with domestic brands, it is best to choose a car that has been removed from any state registration. When registering such a car, law enforcement officers will necessarily check it in their databases and issue a registration permit. Only after this can you finally pay the sellers and complete the transaction.

And don’t forget that the answer to the question “how to choose a used foreign car” should take into account the cost of further Maintenance such a car. Quite often it happens that the initially low cost of a machine is due precisely to the high cost of components for subsequent service. Therefore, before purchasing, it would be a good idea to read reviews from people who have already purchased such cars, or consult certified service centers that service the chosen brand.

In conclusion, we note that when buying a used car, especially a foreign one, it is best to take it for a competent check by serious specialists at specialized service stations. If all of the above nuances are taken into account, then the car will serve you and your family faithfully for a very long time.

The brainchild of the Tolyatti automobile plant is still the most popular vehicles on the Russian secondary market. They are chosen for a number of reasons, including: affordable price, inexpensive repairs, good adaptability to domestic off-road conditions and unpretentious operation. However, choosing a used car is always associated with a certain risk of purchasing a problematic car, both legally and technically. Autocode tells you how to choose a VAZ car and what to look for when buying.

How to choose a used VAZ car

First, let's talk about what you should pay attention to first.

Iron

It's no secret that the car body requires the most expensive repairs. Therefore, first of all, we look at the condition of the iron. Read more about how to check the paintwork and body geometry of a used car. If you find signs that the car has been repainted, or its body geometry is damaged, most likely the vehicle has been in a serious accident. It is better to refuse to choose such a car. Also, you should not buy a vehicle with traces of corrosion. Cars of the VAZ family rust quite quickly. And to slow down the “blooming” of body elements can require a lot of effort and money.

Internal filling

    • transmission (extraneous noise when changing gears, as well as difficulties with shifting them indicate problems with the gearbox, the replacement of which (especially if it is an automatic) will cost several tens of thousands of rubles);
    • suspension elements (swaying of the car when driving is the first sign of problems);
    • engine (dark or bluish exhaust when running power unit indicates that the latter requires major repairs, which will also cost a pretty penny);
    • electrical equipment (electrical problems occur quite often in used VAZs, so if, when inspecting the car, you find involuntary operation of the wipers or sound signal, be prepared to replace the mounting block).

As they say, there are always two “fools” in the market - one sells, the other buys. In 99 cases out of 100, the owner is not going to tell you about all the problems with his used car. If you are not confident that you can identify defects yourself technical condition TS - it is wise to take a knowledgeable person with you.
