Disc bolt pattern and factory tire sizes on the VAZ-2112
On all models of the VAZ-2112 car from the factory, the bolt pattern had the size 4x98. And straight from the assembly line it was planned to install wheels with a 13th and 14th radius and tires of size 175/70 R13 or 175/65 R14.

What is a bolt pattern?

Based on safety requirements, wheels with such a bolt pattern cannot be installed on a VAZ-2112. But some drivers using spacers or eccentric bolts install such disks.
In all modifications of the VAZ 2110, the bolt pattern in the factory configuration is 4x98. “Dozens” rolled off the conveyors with stamped wheel disks - diameter R13, as well as with cast ones - diameter R14.
The wheels were fitted with tires measuring 175/70 R13 or 175/65 R14. However, if the sizes of wheels and tires are relatively clear values, then what a bolt pattern is is a big mystery to many.
Theory
So, number 4 is the number of bolt holes. And the second number is the diameter in mm of the circle in which they are located. It is not so difficult to calculate that the distance at which the bolt is located from the bolt, if the bolt pattern is 98, will be 69.3 mm.
This is the same value for all wheels installed on the VAZ 2110. But in foreign cars, most of which have a bolt pattern of 100, one bolt from the other is located at a distance of 70.7 mm.
The difference is 1.4 mm, and this will no longer allow ideal installation of wheels with a bolt pattern of 4x100 on a VAZ 2110.
Installing 4*100 disks
Let's consider several methods used by car craftsmen to install disks from foreign cars on a VAZ 2110:
- Sometimes holes are drilled in the disk hub on a lathe so that it becomes possible installation disks that you currently have. Both 98 and 100 bolt patterns are suitable. And if you need to replace the disk, then this is also not difficult to do. The bolt sizes are standard;
- The simplest, but not The best way– installing the disc using extended bolts of normal diameter for wheels. But don’t be surprised later that this replacement led to the disc dangling, wheel play appearing, and it is impossible to establish the correct camber and toe, as well as the longitudinal inclination angles;
- Popular, relatively safe way– installation on VAZ 2110 bolts standard size with an eccentric (an option is also possible if the bolt has an offset center). Today, online stores offer many sets of such bolts;
- Some people use special spacers. But in this case, the wheel offset will definitely increase by the width of the spacer. For safety, the width must be at least 20 mm. A compensating measure could be the installation of discs that have a short offset;

- The worst way is to install the disk not on 4, but on 3 extended bolts. What then can be the protection of wheels from “flying”, and road users from death in an accident? Never do this!
If replacement standard disks VAZ 2110, on those in which the 4x100 bolt pattern is carried out incorrectly, then when you gain speed you will find that the wheel dangles, and during sharp braking it may even fall off, and it is unknown how such an “adventure” will end.
Wheel alignment
After replacing wheel rims, the dimensions and bolt patterns of which differ from those provided for by the design of the VAZ 2110, it is necessary to make all the necessary adjustments in order to ensure reliable protection of the entire chassis, as well as tires and arches.
For each front wheel necessary correct angles installations. There are three parameters that require correct installation: this is the toe-in of the wheels, the longitudinal inclination angles of the rotary axles, as well as the camber angles of each wheel.
The rules by which the parameters of the front wheel are set are as follows:
Preparing for adjustment
Most often, the VAZ 2110 camber and alignment are installed at a service station, but you can do it yourself. First of all, check whether there is play in the bearings, whether they are loose steering. At the same time, check the diameter and absence of deformation of the disks, air pressure in the tires, and tread wear.
Naturally, if a wheel is loose, action will need to be taken, and one with improper tread wear may need to be replaced. Wheels standing on the ground need to be pulled relative to the vertical. If you find any play, have a helper apply the brake and check the play again.
If it disappears, the bearing needs to be replaced. If after this the size of the play not only does not disappear, but only decreases slightly, the suspension needs to be checked, repaired, and sometimes replaced.
After this, hang the wheel and check the play again. It is possible that the play has disappeared, but the wheel turns jerkily or is simply difficult, then you need to slightly expand the diameter of the bearing installation site.
If you hear a grinding noise, the bearing needs to be replaced.
Self-adjustment
The first adjustment is to set the pitch angles of the turning axis. The second is camber, the third is toe.
In this case, the camber angle in the loaded state should be 0°30’+-30’. The toe-in should be within 0°15’+-10’, and the pitch angles of the turning axes should be 0°20’+-30’.
Remember that camber and other wheel adjustments are necessary in all cases when you in any way interfere with the operation of the front suspension of the VAZ 2110.
Corrosion protection
For reliable operation of the chassis, everything is important: the bolt pattern, the dimensions of all components, the alignment/camber settings, and even the protection of the arches from corrosion. It is the arches that are more susceptible to adverse factors than other parts of the body - from ordinary moisture during rain to reagents on winter roads.
To ensure reliable protection of the arches, it is best to install lockers (fender liners) on the VAZ 2110. Such protection will cost much less than subsequent repairs of rusted arches. It is important to choose the correct size of the lockers and ensure their tight fit in the area of the arches.

In general, the concept of “bolt pattern” implies the distance from the center of one disk mounting hole to another. For the most part, this parameter is the same for all products of the Volzhsky Automobile Plant, but in general no standard values have been developed. Bolt pattern - dimensions

Is it possible to install 4x100 disks?
This option can be seen quite often on the VAZ-2109. However, in reality this solution is not correct.

However, it is impossible to secure a 4×100 disk properly with ordinary bolts. There is a thickening on them (under the head) - it is this that does not allow the fasteners to be screwed in completely. Moreover, if you try to do this by force, most likely you will break the thread in the hub.
Bolt pattern rims– a set of measured wheel parameters that need to be known during installation. You can measure the necessary indicators yourself or use special tables for this, different for each brand of car.
What sizes are important to determine before purchasing wheels? What does full look like? wheel formula? What are the sizes of spare parts for domestic cars?
Disc size indicators
There are five main sizes, an error in determining which will result in the impossibility of installing the wheel.
These include:
- number of bolt holes (LZ);
- the distance between them;
- diameter of the circle on which they are located (PCD);
- diameter of the central (hub) window (DIA);
- departure (ET).
Number of bolt holes per passenger cars varies from 3 to 6. For trucks, this figure reaches 12-15 pieces. Togliatti-made cars have 4 bolt entries. The exception is the Lada Niva, the wheels of which are secured with five bolts each. The number of holes is measured visually by simple counting.
How to measure yourself
The disc bolt pattern also includes the distance between the windows. You can measure it using a caliper or ruler. Measurements are taken from the center of one hole to the center of the other. There are two ways: the distance between adjacent and farthest holes.
Adjacent holes
The indicator under consideration is determined taking into account the dimensions of the circle on which the centers of the slots for the bolts are located. The diameter is determined using compatibility tables or measured using a ruler.
To do this, measure the distance between adjacent bolts, and then multiply the resulting figure by a coefficient depending on the number of holes. The transverse circumference of VAZ cars is 98 mm passenger models and 139.7 mm for the Niva SUV.
The simplest is to measure on disks with an even number of holes (for 4, 6, 8 bolts), the distance between opposite holes will be the PCD value.
For disks with 5 bolts, it is measured by the distance between any non-adjacent holes, and the resulting figure is multiplied by 1.051.
Hub window diameter
The indicator of the central hub window is indicated both in the tables and in the full bolt pattern formula, which will be discussed below. In the absence of the necessary information, this indicator can be easily measured using a ruler or caliper. The diameter of the VAZ-2110 hub is 58.6 mm.

The bolt pattern of the wheel rims is determined taking into account their offset. Overhang is the ratio of the vertical axis of symmetry of the disk to the point of contact with the hub. The offset can be negative, positive or zero.
It is possible to install a disk that is incorrectly selected for this factor. However, it disrupts the operation of the suspension and makes the car unsafe.
Full and abbreviated bolt pattern formula
As a rule, a complete formula is indicated on the wheels from the factory, displaying all the necessary parameters. In colloquial speech, car enthusiasts often use a short and recognizable designation, which does not give a complete picture of the product. Let's consider each of the formulas separately.
Abbreviated
The shortened formula for determining the measured indicators is called PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter). It includes two sizes and looks like this: 4ˣ98 (wheel bolt pattern for VAZ-2110). The number “4” here indicates the number of notches for bolts, the number “98” is the result of a transverse measurement of their circumference.
Common PCD values: 98, 100, 108, 112, 114.3, 120, 130, 139.7.
A common mistake is to install a 98 disc on a 100 hub, since the difference is not visually visible. The result will be misalignment and incomplete fit of the disk to the hub.
The abbreviated formula allows you to select the required spare part that can be installed on the car. However, an incorrect bolt pattern according to other parameters will not allow full operation of the vehicle.

- 7.5 JX 15 – rim width 7.5 inches, diameter 15 inches. The letter “X” indicates that the disk is cast or forged, the letter “J” indicates that the product should only be used on single-drive machines (marking for all-wheel drive cars-JJ).
- H2 – number of end protrusions (humps) designed to hold tubeless tire. Options with one protrusion (“H1”) or without them (“AN”) are possible. Hump (hillock, elevation) - ensures reliable fixation of the tire in corners, avoiding depressurization.

Is it possible to install wheels with an unsuitable bolt pattern?
Some motorists, in an attempt to save on the purchase of spare parts with the necessary parameters, purchase products that do not correspond to the car brand. Such wheels are subjected to self-processing, the hub hole is widened, the location of the bolts is changed, and then they are installed on the car.
Theoretically, such a modification is possible, but the work must be carried out with maximum precision. Measure the disc so correctly in garage conditions impossible. And inaccurately drilled cutouts lead to wheel runout, destruction of the hub and suspension elements, and disruption of vehicle stability on the road.
Competent modification of the car in conditions close to factory ones is not economically feasible. The work will cost more than purchasing a wheel that initially matches all sizes.
Safety on the road directly depends on the condition of the wheels of the “Seven”. Therefore, you need to take a responsible approach to the choice of wheels and tires, monitor the condition of the tread and tire pressure. To do this, you need to know the parameters of the wheels, the nominal tire pressure, and the type of tread suitable for specific weather conditions.
Bolt pattern VAZ 2107
The first thing you need to pay attention to when installing wheels is the bolt pattern of the VAZ 2107. The design of the “seven” provides for the wheel pattern “98x4” - fastening with four bolts, the holes of which are located on a circle with a diameter of 98 millimeters. Many foreign cars have a close bolt pattern - 100x4. In the first case, the distance between the centers of the bolts is 69.3 mm, in the second - 70.7 mm. An error of 1.4 mm does not make it possible to properly fasten a “non-original” disk, which over time will lead to damage to the disk, bolts or mounting holes.
There are ways to attach 100x4 wheels to a VAZ 2107 using studs, eccentrics, spacers or extended bolts. But all of them either worsen the reliability of fastening or complicate it unnecessarily. Unless absolutely necessary, it is better to install “native” disks. Improper wheel mounting can cause imbalance and vibration, and in the worst case, a wheel falling off while driving can cause an accident.
Tire pressure VAZ 2107
The nominal tire pressure depends on the type of tire and the load on the vehicle. If the wheels are overinflated or low, the contact patch between the tire and the road changes. This causes deterioration in controllability and an increase in braking distance. In addition, uneven accelerated wear of the tread begins. With overinflated tires, wear on the center of the tire increases, and with underinflated tires, wear on the edges increases.
It is recommended to check tire pressure after 500 km, but in practice it is better to do this more often. Small tire punctures, disc and spool defects cause air to escape from individual tires. In this case, the car may drift off course, especially when braking.
The nominal pressure in VAZ 2107 tires depends on the tire size:
- 165/80R13 - 1.6 for front, 1.9 for rear wheels;
- 175/70R13 - 1.7 for front, 2.0 for rear wheels.
In hot weather and when driving, tire pressure increases. With an aggressive driving style, taking sharp turns at high speed, the pressure can increase to 3-4 atmospheres. The tire material is designed for this and can withstand such changes. But if there is a hernia or cut on the tire, it may explode. A front tire explosion is especially dangerous, after which it is very difficult to keep the car on the road.
As pressure decreases, rolling resistance increases, which leads to increased fuel consumption. The tire also bends and the car becomes less responsive when maneuvering.
If the tire pressure is too low, the tires may even fall apart when cornering sharply.
Tire selection and storage
- The tire type must be appropriate for the season and road surface conditions. When the average daily temperature is below 5 degrees, you should switch to Winter tires, when warmer - for summer.
- Summer tires harden at low temperatures and lose grip on the road surface. Winter ones wear out intensively at high temperatures.
- You should not buy studded winter tires if you have to drive on city streets cleared of snow without leaving the city. The studs are good on snow and mud, but do not perform well on asphalt.
- Before storage, tires must be cleaned of dirt and washed.
- Tires should be stored upright on the floor or rack without any sharp edges that could damage the rubber.
- It is unacceptable to store tires hanging on the inner surface - in this position the edge of the tire adjacent to the rim will be deformed.
- Do not store tires in direct sunlight or outdoors.
- It is unacceptable to place heating devices near tires.
